I'm Deborah Waisman — a bilingual educator and data student transitioning into AI ethics. I bring a teacher's clarity and a learner's curiosity to one of the most important conversations of our time.
I'm a Chilean educator and data student now based in Australia, with a degree in Pedagogía en Inglés from Universidad Alberto Hurtado (2013–2017) and several years of English language teaching experience in Chile.
Teaching gave me something data science rarely trains for: the ability to communicate complex ideas to different audiences — a student, a policy maker, an executive. That skill doesn't go away when you change fields. It becomes your edge.
Now I'm building a new chapter: studying data and AI ethics, developing skills in SQL and Excel, and creating content that makes ethical AI accessible to everyone. My goal is to work at the intersection of public accountability and technology — especially in government.

"My background in language education is not a detour — it's my edge. I know how to reach people, explain hard things simply, and build trust across cultures. That's rare in tech."

Independent research into how Australian government and institutions are approaching AI regulation — mapping gaps, risks, and opportunities for more accountable frameworks.
The term is everywhere. But who actually gets held responsible when AI systems cause harm?
Three patterns I keep seeing in how public institutions approach AI — and what evidence-based governance could look like instead.
Data feels objective. But the choices made before collection — who counted, who didn't — shape everything that follows.
